DAY 1 SYDNEY TO KANGAROO VALLEY (156KMS / 2 HOURS)
Head down South from Sydney using the Princess Highway. Visit the magnificent Nan Tien Buddhist Temple, a key religious cultural center and the largest Buddhist temple in the Southern Hemisphere. Continue to Kiama, do not miss the famous geographical feature; Kiama Blowhole with its towering shoots of water cutting through the foreshore’s rock! From Kiama, head towards Berry and Kangaroo Valley. In pretty Kangaroo Valley, seek out the Historic Hampden Bridge on Moss Vale Rd - it is one of Australia’s most photographed bridges! DAY 2 KANGAROO VALLEY TO CANBERRA ( 199KMS / 3HOURS)
After Kangaroo Valley and on your way to Bowral, take a stop over and visit the nice craft shops in the country township of Berrima. Bowral is a short 10 min drive from Berrima. If you are in Bowral in Sept - springtime, you catch the spectacular tulips display during the Annual Tulip Festival! Take a break at Goulburn, the main attraction here is the Big Merino, a 15.2m high replica of the merino ram, which provides, literally a “sheep’s eye view” of the city. Handicraft woollen goods, souvenirs and sheepskin products are also available here. Take the Federal Highway to Canberra- Australia’s capital city. Discover Canberra’s unique planned city layout, visit the miniature village - Cockington Green and check out stately monuments such as the War Memorial and the stunning and internationally acclaimed architectural building; the Parliament House. DAY 3 CANBERRA TO YERONG CREEK ( 307KMS / 4HOURS)
Start the day early, it is going to be quite a long way with numerous attractions to stop for. Take the Barton Highway to the township of Yass. The town boasts fine historic buildings, offers water sports & hiking activities and also arts & crafts shops. From Yass, head towards Wagga Wagga - you can head for the various art galleries, parks/gardens, theatres or clubs. From Wagga Wagga, take the Olympic Way to Yerong Creek. Overnight Yerong Creek

DAY 4 YERONG CREEK TO BEECHWORTH ( 128KMS / 2 HOURS)
On the way to Albury, stop over at unique pub/hotel Ettamogah Pub & Winery, a pub built as a replica of popular Australian cartoonist; Ken Maynard’s creation. Albury Wodonga is a thriving modern city with a leisurely country style. Featuring a mix of stately heritage buildings, parks and treelined streets, the famous Murray River flows between the twin cities and through a magnificent unspoiled landscape of rolling valleys, hills and lush farmlands. A 40-minute detour drive downstream takes you to picturesque Rutherglen, one of Australia’s oldest wine-growing regions. The Rutherglen Wine Experience & Visitor Information Centre is a good place to sample the region’s famous fortifieds, tokays and muscats. Continue on to Historic Beechworth. Beechworth is one of Victoria’s bestpreserved gold rush towns. Four million ounces of gold were officially mined in 1852, when thousands of hopefuls rushed to the gold fields in search of their fortunes. The prosperity generated by Beechworth gold has left an admirable legacy for today’s visitors. The Beechworth Historic and Cultural Precinct is a fine example of this legacy. With over 30 buildings listed by the National Trust, Beechworth has a remarkable architectural heritage, from imposing hotels, churches and government offices to miners’ cottages and the gaol where bushranger Ned Kelly was imprisoned. Take the time to explore the nineteenth century streetscapes, stopping to discover the many fine antique stores, cafes and restaurants, craft shops and tea rooms. Overnight Beechworth

DAY 5 BEECHWORTH TO KYNETON (275KMS / 3 HOURS)
Take the Hume highway to Glenrowan- a focal point for anyone interested in the Ned Kelly legend. In 1880 Ned Kelly was captured at the Glenrowan Inn after a bloody battle, bringing his bushranging days to an end. Kate’s Cottage museum and the multi-media Kellyland tell the story of Ned’s life and battles. Hanging Rock, the haunting backdrop to the Picnic at Hanging Rock book and film, is near Woodend, a town with an historic streetscape featuring a number of heritage buildings and a clock tower. Piper Street in Kyneton has a small cluster of antique shops. The town also boasts mineral springs and 19th-century botanic gardens, plus The Provender, one of the new breed of bookshop cafés. DAY 6 KYNETON TO MELBOURNE ( 85KMS / 1 HOUR)
From Woodend weave your way through the tree-lined streets and magnificent gardens of Mount Macedon. Call in to sample local wines at the cellar doors of boutique wineries. At the summit of the mountain, a short walk from the car park, is the Memorial Cross and several lookouts, from which you can see as far as Melbourne on a clear day. Continue on to Melbourne- Victoria’s capital
